Free Key Choir

Social, Poster, and Cover Art Design

Free Key Choir is an Oakland-based DIY choir that sings original songs written, composed, and arranged by musicians in the choir. The graphic design work that I’ve contributed captures the beauty and dimensionality of our music.

2024-2026

01 Social and Poster Design

Designs for our Fall 2024 season, “Rust is a Slow Fire,” were inspired by the classical and gothic choral arrangements of the songs we sang, mixed with folk and country-inspired ballads. The posters were printed via risograph and sold as merch during our shows.

02 Social and Poster Design

We chose the name “Reservoir” for our Spring 2025 season to honor the reservoirs of creativity and strength within us and our communities that can carry us through stormy seas. Designs were inspired by the tender and hopeful nature of the songs we sang.

03 Cover Art Design

I designed the artwork for a few singles to promote the release of our live album in 2025. Here, they are re-imagined as vinyl records. The cover art for “Lopin’ Along thru the Cosmos” (a Judee Sill cover) evokes the ethereal nature of the song, while the art for “Your Life is a Wheel (Live)” conveys a feeling of empowerment. “Your Life is a Wheel (Live)” ended up being released as part of our album instead of as a single.
